The correct way to Meditate With A Mantra

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Nowadays everytime a baby-kisser repeats a warranty continuously commentators say this guarantee has turned into a “mantra” for that baby-kisser. For the writers, the word “mantra” means an incomprehensible phrase that’s repeated consistently.

For yogis nevertheless a mantra is a word or collection of words that has the power of liberating a homo sapien from all restrictions. How can the repeating of a word or one or two words have the capacity to cause such amazing results? It’s all based mostly on an easy mental principle, “as you believe, so you become.” If you someone tells you “You’re stupid,” that is naturally a bad insult and will hurt you. When you start to contemplate it, then you are giving yourself, a negative auto-suggestion. If you keep thinking in a negative fashion, then your personal development will be mistreated. Meditation mantras have a positive meaning.

But many have read philosophical, non secular or self steerage books explaining these ideas, and yet they never realize these great truths in their daily fact. It is not enough to just think about a very good idea once, and then close the book. You wish to think in a concentrated and systematic demeanour over a period to achieve results. Meditation mantras have a special quality that assists in the job of concentrated, positive thinking : their incredibly vibration has the capacity to focus and target your gourd. Some sounds, for instance power drill breaking a pavement, can upset you seriously, while other sounds, like relaxing music, can transport you to another world. The syllables and words employed in meditation mantras have been selected according their sonic capacity, and they seriously help the job of concentration and speculation together with carrying a positive meaning.

To get the advantages from mantra meditation, you would like to meditate constantly with a mantra that has a positive meaning and the capacity to help concentrate. You would like to do it reasonably often, sitting silently two times each day for a period of 10 to 30 mins. Meditation is a strategy where you focus on the chant and its meaning for so very long as you can, and when you mind rambles, you bring it back.

It may still sound too fantastic to be true, and some intellectuals laugh at the alleged power of a mantra. Once, a respected Indian yogi came to America and delivered many lectures on this subject. In one of the lectures he was challenged by somebody in the bunch who said that it wasn’t possible for a single word to deliver the final results that the yogi guaranteed[**]. The yogi then addressed the professor and announced : “Now are you capable of understanding the power of a single word? All I did was say the word “fool” and your behaviour was modified in an instant!

Along with this recognition, kid’s yoga is increasing as well. Some schools have now integrated yoga in their programs such as lunch and recess time programs or special classes.

Yoga is also for kids. It creates dynamic movements, postures, breathing exercises and meditations for a holistic program for kids. It makes the kids holistically fit: social, emotional, education and physical.

There are several yoga programs for several stages of a child’s development. They are as follows:

Pre-School Yoga: For children this age yoga is especially designed to develop their body awareness, language and listening skills, their cooperation and powers of observation. Yoga makes these children aware of nature and the environment. It makes them more imaginative and playful. Yogis believe that this is the best age for everyone to start practicing yoga.

Yoga for School-Aged Kids: In this stage, yoga is best to balance quiet and active poses and incorporating it with game play and singing. Storytelling, drawing and other exercises can also be incorporated. Rest is also very important for this stage. Children are now easily encouraged to learn and easily instructed by their teachers. They learn postures together with their names by using the positions which are related to animals. They develop their vocabulary deeper. Yoga improves much faster in this stage of their childhood.

Yoga for Pre-Teens and Teens: Much advanced yoga for kids start on this stage. They learn more about their anatomy and physiology. Muscles develop more and joints move in greater length. More learning about how yoga affects digestion and their immune system. Their neurological functions, nervous systems are given attention so that they can focus holistic development. They are also able to use yoga and meditation to help them with study, exams and stress from school.

At the end of the day, yoga for kids must be relaxing, developmental, fun and exicin.

Yoga Classes For Children

Friday, June 18th, 2010

A yoga teacher often says that children are natural yogis.

We don’t generally consider children as having stressful lives, but when you think about how busy they are and we are as well, always rushing around to school, sports, lessons and so on, we can begin to realise that they are under major pressure. This can definitely have a negative effect on their lives in many areas.

If you closely watch your children when they are playing and being silly, you too will notice some basic yoga postures, or asanas that children do naturally. The most obvious is the child’s pose. Another pose you may see a child take is the Downward facing dog, or to squat very low to the ground. Because children are naturally flexible and open-minded yoga is an ideal form of physical activity that will suit them.

Yoga classes for children that take this multi-disciplinary approach are certainly an excellent learning experience. Kids are provided with the opportunity to explore their innate abilities across many planes: linguistic, logical, visual, musical, kinesthetic, naturalistic, interpersonal and intrapersonal.

The great challenge in teaching kids is to be able to hold their attention. Fortunately, kids love to be in motion and they love to talk. They can do both of these in a yoga class and they will love playing like various animals, trees, flowers, cobras and warriors. The instructor should allow them to let go and roar in the lion pose, bark in the dog pose, meow in a cat stretch and hiss like a cobra.

In yoga classes for children lessons can be integrated as well. Narrating their ABC’s or practicing counting their 123’s can be a lot of fun while holding a pose. Children love the release of making sounds and their yoga classes will allow them to connect an auditory experience to a physical sensation. Providing a responsive, creative and loving environment in a yoga class will help children to discover the world on their own and is an optimal method for instruction. Their minds can be engaged as they perform animal and nature asanas to deepen their awareness. When they’re snakes, invite them to really imagine that they’re just a long spine with no arms and legs. Could you still run or climb a tree? In Tree Pose, ask them to imagine being a giant oak, with roots growing out of the bottoms of their feet. Could you stay in the same position for 100 years?

Yoga classes for children provides benefits like: balance, flexibility, focus, peace, grace, connection, health and well-being can be imparted to children in an interactive and pleasurable way that create the foundation for a life-long practice. Children will be given the occasion to express themselves and learn important principles such as reverence for life and the interdependence of all beings.

Yoga In Practice: Ajna Chakra

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Chakras are vortices located in the subtle body. Ajna 1chakra is located between the eyebrows. The existence of chakras is a point of contention to some. Yogis, and Yoginis, may practice balancing their chakras, while some religious fundamentalists feel this practice borders on witchcraft. However, let’s discuss one chakra that most everyone can identify with.

Ajna chakra is referred to as the “third eye” and is
sometimes called, “the mind’s eye.” Whether you believe in the existence of chakras, or not, most of us accept the concepts of intuition and insight. These concepts enable us to use self-reflection for our own advancement.

Most Yoga practitioners think only in terms of physical Yoga (Hatha Yoga), only. Yet all Yoga practitioners are aware that Yoga involves physical, mental, and spiritual aspects. Therefore, let’s use the “window of your mind” to your advantage. Visualization is commonly used by successful people to turn thoughts into reality. Although this is a mental exercise, it is a form of spiritual innovation. This is also a formula that will continually yield success in your life.

By steadily practicing positive visualization, self-
analysis, and meditation, any Yoga student should be
successful within any chosen path taken during the course of his or her life. You will notice that I
mention “positive” visualization. Do you think that Tiger Woods ever focused on missing a putt or losing a golf tournament? Whatever you envision, can easily become your reality.

Therefore, always focus on achievement and success. You cannot afford to think of anything else. See yourself overcoming obstacles and living your dreams. This is what all achievers do.

Now, let’s take a closer look at intuition. If you are not an intuitive person, you should work on enhancing this quality. Balancing Ajna chakra might help you, and if this is not a possibility, you should keep a trusted intuitive person around you, when it is time to make important decisions.

This is not to say that intuition is the overriding factor in your decision making, but intuition always has weight. Intuition will help us seek and find the deeper truth in all matters. This allows us to develop our personal awareness of what is, what is not, and what could be.

As we continue our journey to find the deeper truth, we become much more aware of the many possibilities and opportunities we have to contribute to the common good of all.
