Yoga in Sanskrit means union and denotes a union or balance between the spirit, body and mind so there exists a state of harmony. This is an ancient holistic method of individual improvement practiced for years. Practiced for nearly 5000 years, the body is gradually trained by putting an emphasis on the strengthening of the mind and body, at the same time revitalizing the spirit – it can be both a science and a philosophy.
A Yogi is a male Yoga practitioner and Yogini is a female practitioner. Indian philosophy has six orthodox systems, of which this is one and is regarded an applied science of the body and the mind. Knowing the philosophy of this is a lifetime search and it is just not about squatting in lotus position and chanting.
Back problems and others developing from poor posture can be cured by yoga and this also decreases worry. The main reason this complementary therapy is combined with cancer patients is the feeling of wellness it bestows. Many feel that the best time to perform the discipline is on an empty stomach, before any meals are taken in the morning.
A number of the styles of this discipline are the following: The Raja yoga is referred to as the kingly form where meditation is the primary training. It is one of the four main paths of yoga where diverse methods help deal with the mind, senses, energy and body.
The Kundalini Yoga is the non stressful and safe exercise which gives instant results. It is based on a set of special exercises or Kriyas. We also have Hatha Yoga which can be an extremely great program that’s comprised of breath control and postures; it is the foundation for all of the current asana centered discipline forms.
Sahaja Yoga – This is a special meditation based method for self conciousness, Kundalini awakening. This exposure is personal, that comes within each and every individual. Moksha hot yoga: This is therapeutic yoga that is practiced in a special place having a temperature that is above the atmospheric temperature according to the traditional principles of yoga.
Yoga is actually becoming a lot more preferred among all age groups from kids to adults. Its development and popularity as a form of exercise is due to the fact that here nothing is conducted to {you}, it is something you need to do to yourself. Expecting mothers can improve stamina and flexibility since it is regarded as one of the best activities that you perform while pregnant.
Yoga has become popular among troopers who are enthusiastic in working on their strength, psychological focus and overall flexibility as per Fit Yoga and the Associated Press. The heart of the matter is that this is simply not just a physical exercise routine but a discipline to provide an overall sense of well being and inner relaxation.

Self discipline is what’s important in yoga. Aside from physical fitness, yoga will give a person emotional and spiritual fitness. Yoga has now become a mainstream in the fitness world. From its roots in the east, it has made people benefit more physically and spiritually.
Today, Americans have accepted that the good way of being fit is through yoga. It is not anymore associated just for people who drink chamomile teas and sandals. People love this exercise because the connection of their mind and body is the most important thing. Among the lesser known mind and body fitness programs are Nia and Hyp Yoga.
Nia is neuromuscular integrated action. It is a fitness style which combines dance, martial arts and self-healing. Nia came from the term Non-Impact Aerobics. It is a sixty minute work-out to relieve stress and burn some calories. Nia yoga can also develop your posture and grace. This yoga exercise is very unique in a manner that it lets your body move in ways that it should. Nia is not like “no pain, no gain” exercises but is an exercise which is a proponent of pleasure. Many believe that they do this exercise because they think that the way of life can be done through dance. It is good to have physical pleasure in the way you move your body. Movements are fluid. Nia accompanied by music can combine our body and mind. Some even believe that it is the perfect balance of the yin and the yang.
On the other hand, Hyp yoga is another type that uses hypnosis. Combining yoga and hypnosis is said to produce extreme relaxation by opening the mind to profound changes in the body. The synergy created by this combination is powerful as to do them separately. Sixty minutes is what it takes to do this kind of exercise. During the yoga class, it is important to be in a relaxing pose so that it could be easier to be guided into their subconscious. Effects of this include quitting smoking and even reducing chronic pain.
Yoga is indeed beyond physical fitness. It is fitness of both mind and body.

Mindfulness Meditation, Zen, the Transcendental Meditation technique and many other practices have become household words. Hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific research studies have demonstrated the efficacy of meditation for improving health, preventing disease, accelerating personal growth and even reversal of aging.
But with so many different methods of meditation available, how does one choose a suitable, effective meditation technique for oneself or one’s family? Here are some timesaving tips from a longtime meditator and 35-year meditation teacher to help you evaluate which meditation might be best suit you.
The first step is to recognize that not all meditation techniques are the same. The various meditation practices engage the mind in many different ways. Vipassna, also commonly, and perhaps loosely, known as mindfulness meditation, emphasizes dispassionate observation and, in its more philosophical form, the contemplation of impermanence, sometimes focusing on the interconnection between mind and body. Zen Buddhist practices are likely to use concentration, whether directed at one’s breath or at trying to grasp a Zen koan. The Transcendental Meditation technique uses effortless attention to experience subtle states of thoughts and ‘transcend’ by use of a specialized mantra. Christian Centering Prayer uses a word of worship to stimulate receptiveness towards God. And this is only a small sampling of the variety of practices commonly lumped together as ‘meditation.’
Different techniques have different aims, employ a variety of procedures and naturally produce different results. In determining which technique among this wide variety of practices might best suit your purposes, start by asking yourself what you want out of meditation, and how much time you’re willing to give it. Some meditation programs emphasize regular or twice-daily practice over time to gain maximum benefit and evolve to higher stages of personal growth, while other practices are intended for an occasional inspirational boost or to chill when you’re stressed.
Are you seeking to achieve inspiration and insights during the meditation experience? Meditations that fall into this category are contemplative techniques. They promise greater depth of understanding about the topic being contemplated and help the intellect fathom various avenues of thoughts. These types of meditations can be pleasant and emotionally uplifting, especially if there is no straining or mind control involved. Often these practices are performed with the guidance of a CD, instructor or derived from a book.

The word Kundalini is a familiar one to all students of Yoga, as it is well known as the power, in the form of a coiled serpent, residing in Muladhara Chakra, the first of the seven Chakras, the other six being Svadhishthana, Manipuraka, A nahata, Visuddha, Ajna and Sahasrara, in order.
Less is historically known of the Agamas than the Vedas, because the latter provide descriptive poem-pictures of Vedic life. The original Agamas are twenty-eight in number. They are called Saiva Agamas as they focus on establishing a relationship with and ultimately realizing the Supreme Being Siva. They carry names like Vira, Hero. Siddha, Perfected and Swayambhuva, naturally revealed.
The Agamas are divided into four parts called padas, lessons. The first two padas – Chariya good conduct, and Kriya, external worship,- include all the details of personal home life, house planning, town planning, personal worship in temples, the architectural plans for temples and sculpture as well as the intricacies of temple puja. The final two padas – Yoga, internalized worship and union, and Jnana, enlightened wisdom, – vividly describe the processes and stages of kundalini yoga, and the Cod-like plateaus of consciousness reached when Sivahood is attained. In the actual texts, the padas are ordered with jnana first, yoga second, then kriya and chariya – unfurling from a God-state to a human state.
The Agamas contain tens of thousands of verses, much more prolific than the Vedas. Though the Vedas stayed strictly in Sanskrit, the Agamas proliferated across India and oilier countries through many languages. But they fared poorly over the millennia, particularly the Yoga and Jnana Padas – so high and powerful. The custodian Saiva priests neglected them. Many padas of entire Agamas were lost or destroyed.
